Dooctor.ie is the Official Healthcare and Medical Partner of the LGFA

Dooctor.ie is the Official Medical & Healthcare Partner of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA), announced at Croke Park in July 2026. The partnership gives LGFA players, clubs, volunteers and members rapid access to a doctor, clear scan referral pathways, cardiac screening, blood testing, online consultations and injury-management support — through a nationwide network of 15 walk-in clinics and an on-demand online doctor service.

At Dooctor.ie, we believe healthcare should be accessible, affordable and available when people need it most. That belief is exactly what has brought us together with one of Ireland’s great sporting success stories. We are proud to be the Official Medical & Healthcare Partner of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA).

This is more than a logo on a jersey. It’s a commitment to the health, wellbeing and welfare of thousands of players, volunteers, coaches, families and supporters in every county across Ireland — on the pitch and off it.

A partnership announced at Croke Park

The partnership was unveiled at Croke Park, the home of Gaelic games, in July 2026. It marks an important milestone in our mission to make high-quality healthcare more accessible to athletes, families and communities nationwide — and it brings together two organisations that share a genuine commitment to health, wellbeing, athlete welfare and community support.

Speaking at the announcement, our CEO and Founder, Dr Hafiz Mohd Ali, described Ladies Gaelic football as one of the country’s great sporting success stories, and said the partnership reflects our core values of accessible, affordable care that’s there when people need it most. LGFA President Trina Murray called the partnership a natural progression, aligning the Association with an organisation that shares its focus on health, wellbeing and player welfare.

Built on an existing relationship

This announcement builds on an already strong relationship between the LGFA and Dooctor.ie. We first came on board as the title sponsor of the LGFA National Volunteer of the Year Awards, with the 2025 awards presented at Croke Park in January 2026. Those awards celebrate the administrators, coaches, committee members and grassroots heroes who are the heartbeat of the Association — and we’re proud to continue supporting them as part of a longer-term commitment.

We also have deep local roots in the game. Dooctor.ie Director Thomas Browne is a former Westmeath minor footballer and current Athlone ladies team manager, and we operate a clinic in Athlone — so we understand club and county football from the inside.

What the partnership means for LGFA members

For an injured athlete, turnaround time is everything. Getting the right diagnosis quickly, arranging the appropriate scan when needed, and putting a clear plan in place can make a real difference to a player’s recovery and return-to-play journey. That’s where this partnership becomes a game changer.

Through Dooctor.ie, LGFA players, clubs and members can access:

  • Rapid medical access — see a doctor quickly through our Express Consultation Service, online or in person, 7 days a week.
  • Injury management — assessment, advice and a clear plan to support a safe, swift return to play.
  • Scan referral pathways — clear, affordable routes to MRI, ultrasound and other scans when a diagnosis needs imaging, often within 48 hours.
  • Cardiac screening — heart health assessments including ECGs, an important part of athlete welfare. Learn more on our Cardiac Screening page.
  • Blood testing and health screening — to monitor health, energy, nutrition and recovery. See our Tests & Screenings page.
  • Online doctor consultations — for illnesses, prescriptions, sick certs and advice, wherever you are.
  • Health education initiatives — helping players and communities stay healthy through prevention and early detection.

LGFA members can access a dedicated healthcare pathway through Dooctor.ie as part of the agreement. Full details are on our LGFA partnership page.

Why this matters for women’s sport

Ladies Gaelic football has grown into one of Ireland’s biggest and fastest-growing sports, bringing together thousands of players and volunteers nationwide. With that growth comes a responsibility to look after the health of everyone involved — and women athletes have specific health needs that deserve dedicated attention.

Our ambition goes beyond treating injury and illness. We want to help people stay healthy through prevention, early detection, education and easy access to medical care. For LGFA members, that means support across the full picture of health — not just what happens on match day.

Health topics that matter to players and members

As part of our commitment to health education, our blog covers the everyday health questions that affect athletes, families and communities. A few that are especially relevant to the LGFA family:

  • Injuries and recovery: understanding when a knock needs a scan and how to support recovery — talk to us through rapid access and scan referral pathways.
  • Women’s health: our guides to contraception options in Ireland and menopause symptoms and support.
  • Mental health and wellbeing: recognising the signs of anxiety and getting support, and practical ways to sleep better — crucial for performance and recovery.
  • Heart health: why knowing your blood pressure numbers matters, backed by our cardiac screening service.
  • Energy and nutrition: vitamin D deficiency in Ireland and what a simple blood test can reveal.
  • Everyday illness: from colds, flu and COVID-19 to getting a sick cert online when you’re too unwell to train or work.
